Abstract: This will provide a brief overview of asemantic language generation by transformer neural networks before delving into examples of how non-human agents influence us through their speech. These effects, akin to those attributed to mythological non-human speakers like angels or oracles, are both illusory and genuine. Drawing from stories in Greek and Jewish traditions, Alexei Grinbaum will shed light on the forthcoming transformation in human experience brought about by LLMs.
Dr Alexei Grinbaum writes on ethical questions related to emerging technologies, including robotics and AI. He serves as the chair of the CEA Operational Digital Ethics Committee, is a member of the French National Digital Ethics Committee (CNPEN), and holds an Ethics Chair position with the European Commission.
