META Debate: the Scientific Populism

In the last few years, as a result of the pandemic and communication that is not always coherent and effective, some groups of citizens, associations and movements have mobilised in opposition to scientific and academic institutions. The META debate will discuss the challenges posed by so-called ‘scientific populism’ by comparing perspectives from the sociology of science and studies on populist movements, with a particular focus on the role of scientific communication. Moderator: Elisabetta Tola (Facta – formicablu). Speakers: Paolo Gerbaudo (King’s College London), Giampietro Gobo (University of Milan).
