The research project Addressing Online Scientific Misinformation in High Schools deals with the problem of the spread of incorrect or false information on techno-scientific topics among high school students in Lombardia. The project has two main objectives: first, to identify the socio-technical factors that influence the readiness of younger generations to accept scientific and technological information as valid, even when recognized experts have deemed it unreliable. Secondly, it aims to test and disseminate innovative tools and practices to help high school students learn to navigate online information and distinguish between reliable and unreliable sources.
The final event of the research project will be held on Friday, 22 November, as a two-part conference to present and discuss the results. The first part, titled Young People and Scientific (Dis)information in Lombardy’s High Schools, will take place at the Museum of Science and Technology and is aimed at high schools and stakeholders. In the afternoon, the session Addressing High School Students’ Vulnerability to Scientific Misinformation: The Contribution of Science and Technology Studies, addressed to the academic community, will be held at Università Cattolica.
