This one-day workshop, which is jointly organized by META and the PhD course “Communicating Scientific Research” at the Politecnico di Milano, surveys the issue of how theoretical and applied work in philosophy and mathematics, as well as the mutual interaction between these disciplines, can actively contribute to the advancement of medical research. Speakers include Alfio Quarteroni (PoliMi) “Matematica in Medicina: ricercare, applicare, comunicare”; and Giovanni Boniolo (Ferrara) “Why should we put more ph into a scientific PhD?”.
