META Debate: Controversial Science. When Researchers Argue and Knowledge Advances

The debate will address the issue of how science grows as new controversies arise. This has been demonstrated by the pandemic, during which virologists, epidemiologists, statisticians, biomedical scientists have held divergent opinions, expressed disagreements, and initiated controversies, but in doing so have activated collective mechanisms of scientific knowledge formation.

Moderator: Angela Simone (science communicator, Fondazione Giannino Bassetti). Speakers: Carlo Ghezzi (computer engineer, Politecnico di Milano), Eleonora Montuschi (philosopher of science, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice), Attila Bruni (sociologist of science, University of Trento).
