May 27-28, 9:00–19:00. Room: Aula Rogers Alpha, ground floor of the Polimi building 11 (via Ampère 2).
The conference “Numbers and Stories 2” will focus on the ethical dimensions of climate change research. The first day will be concerned with the theme of illegitimate value influences and the responsibility of scientists and institutions in ensuring relevance and integrity of climate change research. The second day will discuss whether and how consideration of justice should enter the evaluation of mitigation scenarios and how doing so could enhance the credibility and effectiveness of future research. The aim is to improve our understanding of which ethical values, if any, may legitimately influence climate change research. Like its previous edition, the conference will have a strongly interdisciplinary character, featuring contributions by climate scientists, economists, sociologists, statisticians, ethicists, and epistemologists. We look forward to sparking new interactions and collaborations among speakers and audience members, with the aim of creating a multi- and trans-disciplinary community that can help address the complex questions raised during the event.
